A Women’s Theology of Liberation (WTOL) is a national initiative of the PICO Network housed at Faith in New York. Launched in 2015 under the leadership of Onleilove Alston the PICO Network launched WTOL which is a training and retreat program focused on equipping PICO Women clergy, lay-leaders and staff to organize rooted in their faith with a gender lens. Through training retreats, workshops and webinars we are equipping PICO Network women to step into their power as faith agents of change. A Women’s Theology of Liberation also provides strategic guidance to the PICO Network around gender and community organizing, gender and staff development and supporting women clergy in the network. A WTOL works with local PICO affiliates to develop trainings focused on gender and organizing. This initiative was born out of Women’s Prophetic Faith Voices a project developed by Rev. Jennifer Jones Bridgette, former PICO National staff and Associate Minister Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Baton Rouge.
