Why is it imperative that faith leaders and community leaders come together to confront climate change and empower our communities? Because:

Black, brown and poor people are disproportionately—often severely—impacted by the affects of climate change.

Our neighborhoods have high levels of environmental toxins and alarming asthma rates, fewer parks and green spaces, and,

We are in danger of being left out of the coming green energy/jobs revolution.

The faith community has a particular moral obligation to understand and speak to the reasons these situations currently exist, and to find constructive ways of confronting the issues and catalyzing change.

On Tuesday morning, October 4, you are invited to a breakfast meeting of local faith and community leaders to learn from experts about the environmental health and justice issues facing our communities, and the potential economic development and training/employment opportunities that will pass us by—unless we take steps now to protect our interests.

We will explore concrete options and make plans for moving forward. All clergy/lay and community leaders are welcome, so please share this invitation with others in your circle.

No prior knowledge of these issues is necessary in order to make a contribution!

Our time together will inform, encourage and equip us to do the work we are called to do!

We hope you can join us on Tuesday, October 4th!
