New Yorkers for Inclusive Democracy Campaign Launch
February 6 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
Join us for the launch of the New Yorkers for Inclusive Democracy Campaign as we push to expand voting rights in New York State. The campaign will launch with a press conference at the Zion Triangle in Brooklyn on February 6 at 12pm.
- Enhanced Automatic Voter Registration (S8752A/A9732): an effort to provide for automatic voter registration and pre-registration for agencies such as DMV, Medicaid offices, and potentially others. This bill is a supplement to the AVR bill passed in 2019, and will give the power of the ballot to nearly 2 million unregistered voters in New York State.
- Democracy During Detention Act (S6875/A9612): which establishes the election infrastructure that makes voting accessible for all those eligible to vote who are detained in jails, ensuring that their voting rights are protected.
- Voter Outreach Support: A budget appropriation to support outreach efforts by the Department of Corrections, the Department of Motor Vehicles, New York City Housing Authority, and the SUNY system to ensure that low-income New Yorkers know about their voting rights, opportunities to register, and resources to obtain key identity documents.
